Almost 50 miles away from Manhattan, lies the most populated town of Suffolk County, Town of Brookhaven, incorporating eight villages (Belle Terre, Bellport, Lake Grove, Old Field, Patchogue, Poquott, Port Jefferson, Shoreham) and thirteen-one hamlets some of which are Blue Point, Brookhaven, Canaan Lake, Center Moriches, Centereach, Cherry Grove, Coram. According to the census 2016, approximately 486,599 people reside there within the area of 531.54 square miles. Since Brookhaven lies above the sea level, the town's atmosphere is typically warm and gets significant rainfall.
Belonging to the Setauket and Unkechaug tribes, the Algonquian-speaking Native Americans were the town's first original inhabitants. Later, the town fell in the hands of English settlers in 1640 called their settlement Setauket, named after one Native-American tribe. Till the 19th century, residents used the names Brookhaven and Setauket interchangeably for this region, and the settlers made various land purchases from the Native people. The first one was carried out in 1655, containing all modern areas of Setauket, Stony Brook, and Port Jefferson. In the second phase, the region stretched eastward along the North Shore, including all the lands from the Old Mans area to Wading River.

From bus services to ferries and railways line to the airport, everything is available to facilitate the people. Within the premises of town, there are three reliever airports. The Brookhaven Calabro Airport, located in Shirley, east of this is the Spadaro Airport and Lufkin Airport. In the educational sector, the town provides many educational opportunities to students of all age groups. Plenty of public schools are available from Kindergarten to grade 12. Brookhaven is also the home of Stony Brook University, which serves as its largest employer. To maintain the clean and green environment, its Recycling, and Sustainable Materials Management department actively keeps a complete check of the negative environmental impacts and takes strict action against any violation.
